Step 1 – Download Linux Mint Cinnamon
Download the Linux Mint Cinnamon ISO file from the official Linux Mint website.
Download the Linux Mint Cinnamon ISO file from the official Linux Mint website.
Use Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive using the Linux Mint Cinnamon ISO file.
Insert the bootable USB flash drive into the computer where Linux Mint Cinnamon will be installed.
Turn on the computer, or restart it if it is already running.
Wait for the manufacturer's logo (such as Acer, Dell, HP, or Lenovo) to appear on the monitor.
Once the logo appears, repeatedly press the F12 key until the Boot Menu opens. Do not press or spam F12 before the logo appears, as the computer may not recognize the key press.
Note: The computers used in our laboratory use the F12 key to access the Boot Menu. Other computer brands may use a different key, such as Esc, F9, or F11.
From the Boot Menu, select the USB flash drive and press Enter.
When the Linux Mint boot menu appears, select Start Linux Mint Cinnamon and wait for the desktop to load.
On the desktop, double-click the Install Linux Mint icon.
Select your preferred language, then click Continue.
Select the correct keyboard layout, then click Continue.
If the Install multimedia codecs option appears, check the box, then click Continue.
Select Erase disk and install Linux Mint, then click Install Now.
Warning: This option will erase all existing data on the selected drive. Make sure any important files have been backed up before continuing.
A confirmation message will appear showing the changes that will be made to the disk.
Click Continue to proceed.
Choose your location or time zone, then click Continue.
Enter the following information:
If you want the computer to log in automatically without asking for your password each time it starts, select Log in automatically.
After completing all the required fields, click Continue.
Linux Mint Cinnamon will begin copying files and installing the operating system. This process may take several minutes, depending on your computer.
Do not skip this step. Do not turn off the computer, restart it, close the installer, or remove the USB flash drive while the installation is in progress.
Wait patiently until the installer displays a message indicating that the installation has been completed successfully. Only then should you click Restart Now.
Click Restart Now.
When prompted, remove the USB flash drive and press Enter.
After the computer restarts, log in using the username and password you created.
After logging in, open Update Manager from the taskbar or the application menu.
Click the Refresh button.
Wait while Linux Mint checks for available updates.
Click Install Updates.
When prompted, enter your username and password, then click Authenticate.
If the updates are not already selected, click Select All.
Click Install Updates to begin downloading and installing all available updates.
Wait until all updates have been installed successfully.
Do not close the Update Manager, restart the computer, or shut it down while the updates are being installed.
Click Refresh again.
If more updates appear, repeat Steps 4 and 5 until the Update Manager reports that your system is up to date.
Restart the computer to complete the update process.
